William E. "Putman" Tyler, 82, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield May 2, 1939, he was a son of the late Edward and Rose Ellen Ennis Thornton.
A member of Crisfield High School class of 1957, he worked in the garment industry for 30 years and then Campbell Soup Company until their closing.
He was a member of Asbury U. M. Church and the United States Trotting Association. He enjoyed horses and horse racing and he especially loved his daughters.
He is survived by his companion, Sharon Whitfill of Crisfield; two daughters, Kim Rayfield and husband Warner of Crisfield and Jane Trader of Pocomoke City; two grandchildren, Megan Rayfield of Crisfield and Ben Trader of Pocomoke City; a brother, Oscar Franklin Thornton and wife Cheryl of Laurel, DE; a sister, Lillian Louise Wilson and husband Harlan of Laurel, DE; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Israel Rayfield; and a brother, Dennis Edward Thornton.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Bob Daniels will be Monday, May 10, 2021 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery.
