Obituary

William Pieta, age 96 and lifelong resident of Gibbstown, NJ died March 31st at his daughter's home in Crisfield, MD.

Willie graduated from Paulsboro (NJ) High School in 1939 where he was on the first wrestling team and remained undefeated. He was a WWII veteran serving in Army Air Forces 398th Signal Corp. He worked as a general contractor beginning with his father and later with his sons. He was a life member of the Anthony T. Calista VFW Post #5579, Gibbstown, and a founding member of the Raccoon Creek Boat Club. Willie loved hunting and fishing and his Old Milwaukee. He was a generous friend to many and was loved by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, John and wife, Debra, and Michael of Gibbstown; 3 daughters, Barbara of Ventnor, Andrea of Crisfield, MD, and Kathryn of Gibbstown; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, John Paul, and Jillian; and 4 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn Patton Pieta; his parents, John and Mary; his brother Tate and sisters, Frieda Goldstein, Jean Myers, and Helen Jenkins; a dear companion of many years, Irene Thompson; and by grandson, David, and granddaughter, Leslie.

Viewing will be on Wednesday 6-8pm and Thursday 9:30-10:15am at the LANDOLFI FUNERAL HOME of Paulsboro, 300 W. Broad St., Paulsboro, NJ followed by services 10:30am. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Swedesboro NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Gibbstown VFW Post #5579, 743 W. Broad St., Gibbstown NJ 08027.
