Obituary

William Alexander Petz, 89, of Westover and formerly of Mardela Springs, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born in Summit, New Jersey on June 13, 1925, he was a son of the late William G. and Amy Alexander Petz. He had been making his home in Westover the past two years.

He was a US Navy World War II veteran, and later retired from the US Air Force reserves after more than 20 years of service. He was a life member of the VFW, and he enjoyed puzzle books, golf, football and wrestling.

He is survived by his brother, Edward Petz and wife Helen of Westfield, NJ; two nephews, Lenny Ward and wife Nancy of Westover and Stephen Ward and wife Barbara of Edison, NJ; two nieces, Gail Petz of Westfield and Judy Petz of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and his great nieces and nephew, Kristy Davis of Crisfield, Rebecca Simms of Parsonsburg, L.T. Ward of Westover, and Sarah Ward, Amanda Ward, and Tracey Ward, all of Edison, NJ.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Amy Adkins.

A funeral service officiated by the Rev. Jim Riley will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2 PM at Springhill Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Hebron. Interment with military honors will immediately follow.
