Obituary

William Powell "Pop Bill" Parks, Jr., of Tangier Island, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at his home on Tangier.

Born on Tangier he was the son of the late William Powell Parks and Nettie Chambers Parks. He was a welder/engineer in marine construction. He was a World War II U. S. Navy Veteran. His wife, Zella Hall Parks, died April 17, 1991.

He was a member of the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church and the VFW Post on Tangier.

The family gives a special thanks to Hospice for their special care and Lorraine Parks and Della Parks for everything they have done.

Surviving are two sons, Charles P. "Chip" Parks and wife Laura of Westover, and William J. Parks of Quinby, VA; grandchildren, Charles P. "Chip", Jr., Diane, Jamie, Greg, Jr., Billy, and Leslie; numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Wheatley Parks in 1999, brother, Melvin, and sisters Marie and Elizabeth.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church.
