Obituary

CRISFIELD

WILLIAM RUSSELL "BILL" CLAYTON, 84, of Crisfield, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on June 7, 1922, he was a son of the late Henry and Gertrude Annis Clayton.

In his earlier years, he was owner of a restaurant and was a waterman. Later, he worked in lumber sales and delivery for the former Community Building Suppliers in Fruitland and he retired from the former Masten Building Supply in Fruitland.

He was a United States Army veteran who served during World War II and was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Crisfield where he was active in the United Methodist Men. He enjoyed hunting and loved to fish the waters of the Tangier and Pocomoke Sounds.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Elizabeth Tyler Clayton of Crisfield; three sons, William Fred Clayton and his wife Harlene of Alexandria, Virginia, Donald Edward Clayton and his wife Nancy of Hebron, Maryland and Timothy Tyler Clayton of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Stephanie Clayton, Stacey Clayton, Donald Edward Clayton, II and Jeremy Joseph-Daniel Clayton; four great-grandchildren, Devon Trout, Sydney Trout, Ava Elizabeth Clayton and Isaac Edward Clayton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Clayton and Henry Clayton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 29, 2006 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Tim Shawyer and the Rev. Carol Carlson will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park near Crisfield.
