Obituary

William Cranston Tyler, Jr., 86, of Crisfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at his home.

Affectionately known by most as "Billy C.", he was born in Crisfield on January 22, 1939, the son of the late William Cranston "Snooks" Tyler and Mildred Landon Tyler.

A graduate of Crisfield High School, he owned and operated Charles W. Howeth and Son Seafood for many years and considered all of the men and women that worked there family.  He was a hard-worker and truly loved what he did.  In Billy C.'s words, he was always "shoveling ice or fishing up".  He also owned and operated Tyler Farms, a successful poultry farm.

Billy C. was a member of the Crisfield Church of God where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School, and most recently was a member of Living Hope Church of God in Marion Station.  He was a former member of the Crisfield Fire Department and the Army National Guard.

In his earlier years he enjoyed duck hunting and fishing.  He also loved woodworking, his vegetable and strawberry gardens, the Sunday Morning Motorcycle Club, spending winters with his camping friends in Kissimmee, Florida, and his daily rides over Arch Bridge in Crisfield.

Billy C. was blessed with two loves of his life:  his first wife of almost 50 years, Erma Louise Holland Tyler who preceded him in death on September 18, 2007, and his wife of 15 years, Bonnie Johnson Tyler.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by his children, Anita Roughton and husband Keith, and Chris Tyler and wife Traci; his step-daughter, Lisa Griffith and husband Ryan; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Keith Thompson/Heather, David Barone/Erica, Cody Tyler/Lauren, Jessica Alexander/Dustin, Chelsea Corbett/Dane, Jacob Cullen/Alyssa, and Rachael Cullen; 13 great-grandchildren, Daniel Thompson, Kaiden Thompson, Cadence Barone, Cassidi Cox, Kennedi Barone, Maci Barone, Camden Tyler, Tyler Alexander, Mackenzie Alexander, Addy Cullen, Rowan Cullen, Rhys Cullen, and Meredith Davila; his sister, Darlene Tyler; his niece, Michelle Tyler; and his nephew, Greg Bozman.

In addition to his first wife, Erma, he was preceded in death by a son, William C. "Billy" Tyler, III; and a sister, Betty Bozman.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a visitation will be from 12-1 PM.  Rev. LeBron Palmer will officiate.  Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733; or Living Hope Church of God, 27331 Crisfield Marion Road, Marion Station, MD 21838.
