Obituary

WILLIAM C. "BILL" SALTZ, 83, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City.

Born in Crisfield January 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Samuel M. and Nola R. McCready Saltz. His wife, Helen Faye Saltz, preceded him in death on September 14, 2007.

A 1941 graduate of Crisfield High School, he was the owner of the former Saltz Furniture Store in Crisfield.

He was a US Navy veteran and a member of the VFW Post #8274 in Crisfield. He loved gardening, working on his tractor, and he enjoyed making crafts. He especially loved to make birdhouses and anything his wife and family asked him to.

He is survived by two devoted daughters, Rhea E. Walston and Phyllis F. Saltz, both of Crisfield; three grandsons, Trevor Coons and wife Dawn of Durham, NC, Jason Coons and wife Alison of Salisbury and Jay Walston of Crisfield; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Adriana, Annah, Brooke and Holden; a sister-in-law, Neva R. Howard and husband Arthur of Marion; a brother-in-law, Howard W. Ward and wife Ellen of Crisfield; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Jeff James will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
