William Paul Abbott, 86, of Atlantic, VA, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield August 21, 1935, he was a son of the late Clarence James and Lola Lavinia Hoffman Abbott.

He was a graduate of Lee Academy and obtained his BA degree in history from Salisbury State University and his MA degree from The George Washington University.  He was a school teacher in Wicomico County for 30 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed woodworking, model trains, traveling, and was an avid reader.  A sports enthusiast, he lettered in baseball, track and gymnastics, was a Blue Belt, and enjoyed ice skating, skiing and sailing.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Janice Lynn Culp Abbott of Atlantic; step-daughter, Samantha Kane of Salisbury; daughter-in-law, Valerie Abbott of Cleveland, Tennessee and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Paul Abbott and Mark Stephen Abbott; and numerous brothers and sisters.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Stacey Johnson will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 3 PM Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a visitation will be one hour prior.  Interment will be private in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
