IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda L.
Emely
August 28, 1948 – October 18, 2023
Wanda L. Emely, 75, of Westover, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. Though the family was not expecting her to go to her permanent home, she had been looking forward to Heaven since the day she was saved at the young age of eight.
Born at home in Crisfield on August 28, 1948, she was a daughter of the late June "Rose" and Rev. Jerry Messick and William Schweizer. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse working for Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home for 32 years.
Mrs. Emely faithfully served the Lord and was an avid prayer warrior for her family and friends. She was currently attending Living Waters Church of God in Pocomoke. Over the last few years, as her health started to fail, she was devoted to memorizing scripture from home. She also was active with Gideons and served as a Gideons Ladies Auxiliary Officer.
She loved gardening and nature, and was an avid beekeeper for over 20 years. She also had a special heart for the homeless & missions.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David Emely; her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Michael Brittingham; her sister by heart, Mabel Knierim; siblings, John, William III, Billy, Eddie and David Schweizer, and Katie Turkol; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three siblings, Debbie Labo, Jerry Messick and Terry Schweizer.
Wanda wanted her service to be a celebration in church. To honor her wishes, a funeral service with her daughter and son-in-law officiating will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11 AM at the Crisfield Church of God. She did not wish to have a viewing, however the family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Worcester-Somerset Gideons, P.O. Box 511; or Jesus Cave Ministry, (Memo- A Well in Memory of Wanda Emely in Nicaragua) P.O. Box 73; both Princess Anne, MD 21853.
