Walter K. Rice, 61, of Crisfield, MD, entered his heavenly home on March 18, 2021.  He was a patient at Tidal Health and most recently, the Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.  Born on March 1 ^st , 1960, Walt was the son of the late David W. Rice and the late Charlotte Rice Miller.  He was a graduate of Crisfield High School in 1978.

After Walt's first brain surgery, he was employed approximately 20 years at Blind Industries in Salisbury, MD.  Walt was a dedicated worker and would arise each day at 3 am to prepare for the day.  He would take the Shore Transit bus for the long ride to Salisbury.  He was often awarded small incentives from Blind Industries, due to his great work attendance.

Walt enjoyed walking.  He was often seen walking from his home to the Crisfield High School track to walk and jog laps.  He also liked to lift weights and listen to books on tape for the blind.  He had a very sharp mind.  He and his brother Todd liked to ride around town listening to the oldies.  We will miss our trips to Salisbury, that we took for various reasons.

Walt is survived by his loving brothers and sister, David H. Rice (Shirley) of Salisbury, Todd Miller (Laurie Ann) of Crisfield and Linda R. Adkins (Gene)of Salisbury.  He was a brave person who faced many medical trials, but never complained of them.  Our hearts are truly broken, but we look forward to seeing you in heaven one day.  We love you Walt.

Many thanks to the Tidal Health ICU and PCU staff.  Special thanks to surgeon, Dr. Sophia Shakur, who went far beyond her call as a doctor.  We are grateful for the care and compassion expressed by so many, which included many of the staff at Blind Industries.  Our thanks also go out to the staff at the Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home, whose care and concern was exceptional.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior.  Pastor Terry Riggin will officiate.  Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
