Walter E. "Be-Bop" Ward, Jr., 82, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home.

Born in Crisfield August 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Walter E. and Mabel Laird Ward. His wife, Virginia S. "Ginger" Sommers Ward, died March 1, 1999.

Retired from the former Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a Charter and Life member of Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Ronnie Hinman, and three grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua, and Emily Hinman; all of Crisfield. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Joyce Ward, of Crisfield, Mary Jane Long of Salisbury, and Karen Sue Nichols of Seaford; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Sommers, Jr., of Salisbury and Terry Sommers of Pocomoke; his close friend, Vera Rae Higgins of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Ward; and his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Willis Briddell.

Funeral services officiated by the Reverends Olivia Costango and Charles "Chuck" Jacobson will be 2 PM Friday, September 2, 2016 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
