Vivian S. Ward, 88, of Crisfield, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield June 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Artie T. Somers and Mildred C. Todd Stephens. Her husband, Gordon T. "Beaver" Ward died December 9, 1996.

She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Circle.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Cavanaugh and husband Charles of Crisfield, and Kathy Rains and husband David of Laurel, MD; grandchildren, Melissa Brewer and husband Raymond of Spring Grove, VA, and Ross Cavanaugh of Crisfield; and a niece, Gayle Peterson of Centreville, MD.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Somers, and a sister, Myrtle Matthews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Sally Russum will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
