Obituary

VIVIAN E. EVANS, 81, of Rhodes Point, Smith Island, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born on Rhodes Point on March 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Louise Bradshaw Evans. Her husband of 60 years, Milton F. Evans, died July 10, 2006.

She was assistant Post Master at the Rhodes Point Post Office for more than 30 years. A faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir, was active in the UMW and served as treasurer. She loved to serve her church and her community.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Evans and his wife Joyce of Crisfield, and Milton "Milty" Evans, Jr. of Rhodes Point; three daughters, Deborah Michael and her husband Ted of Old Bridge, NJ, Sheila Evans and her husband Filmore of Crisfield and Missy Tyler and her husband Lee of Rhodes Point; two sisters, Peggy Owens of Crisfield and Sandra Wells of Eden; a daughter-in-law, Connie Evans of Rhodes Point; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis C. Evans on April 17, 2002.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2 PM at Calvary U. M. Church. The Rev. Rick Edmund will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 10-11 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home and Tuesday evening from 7-9 at the church on Rhodes Point. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

There will be a special boat, Capt. Jason, departing Wednesday at 12:30 PM from the City Dock in Crisfield for funeral passengers, and will return following the services and fellowship meal.
