Virginia "Teeny" Ward, 94, of New Church, VA and formerly of Crisfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the home of her daughter in New Church, VA, surrounded by family and friends. She loved her hometown of Crisfield, but had to move due to damages to her home following Hurricane Sandy.
Born in Crisfield on July 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Richard "Dick" and Myrtle Mason Nock.
She was a member of Mariner's United Methodist Church and worked as a Sales Clerk at Dollar General for 15 years, where she retired. She also worked at the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchen in Crisfield for many years.
Virginia had a great love for cats, but most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending her time with them.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Frank H. Ward, Jr.; a daughter, Beverly Sterling Mister and husband Tilton E. Mister, of New Church, VA; five grandchildren, Bill "Beetle" Tyler and wife Wanda, of Crisfield, Lisa Tyler Linton of Greenbackville, VA, Darrell Tyler of Hawaii, Fairy McPherson and husband Chuck, of Pungoteague, VA, and Pam Lynch of New Church; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Payne; a brother, Harold Wayne Nock; and two special nephews, "Bootsie" and Ronnie Payne.
Services will be held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 2 PM. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Donnie Bailey will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
