Obituary

VIRGINIA T. BRADSHAW, 94, of Crisfield, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

She was born on Smith Island, the daughter of the late Elton Marsh.

She was retired from McCready Memorial Hospital where she was the head of food services and housekeeping. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield where she sang in the choir, and was active in UMW. She was also a member of AARP and the former Chesapeake Chapter #28 O.E.S.

When Mrs. Bradshaw moved to Crisfield, she boarded Smith Island children while they attended school. She was an excellent cook who loved cooking big meals for family gatherings. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her sister-in-law, Blanche.

She is survived by a son, Martin L. Tyler and his wife Nenita of Crisfield; a step-daughter, Eleanora "Cookie" Brown of Salisbury; grandchildren, April Nelson and her husband Tommy of Salisbury, Cheryl Tyler of Crisfield, Adrian Tyler of Crisfield, Angel Nicole Tyler of Crisfield, Mark Tyler of Salisbury, Tracy Warthen of Crisfield, Jennifer Clayton and her husband William "Clay" of Princess Anne, and Eric Layman, who was like a grandson to her, and his wife Jodi of Baltimore; great-grandchildren, Christina Ruark, Cody Martin, Rachel Derderian, Tyler Carson, Kenneth Tyler, III, Trisha Tyler, Amanda Tyler, Evan Warthen, Ryan Tyler, Madison Clayton, Angel Clayton, Samantha Layman and Jordon Layman; and many nieces and nieces and nephews.

Along with her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents who helped raised her; her step-mother, Florence Marsh; her first husband, Vincent Lee Tyer; her second husband, William "Bill" Bradshaw; a son, Kenneth Eugene Tyler; a daughter-in-law, Sue Tyler; a grandson, Kenneth Eugene Tyler, II; and three siblings, Etheridge Smith, Kenneth Marsh, and John Wesley Marsh.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 1 PM at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Bill S. Wilson and Pastor G. Kim Gilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
