Vicky Bishop Ford, 62, of Marion Station, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born in Portsmouth, Virginia September 20, 1955, she was the daughter of Doreen Mahan Bishop of Westover and the late Charles W. Bishop.
A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1973, she obtained a Bachelor of Art in Social Work from Salisbury University and a Master's in Early Childhood Education from Johns Hopkins University. She was the coordinator for the Infant and Toddler Program and Special Education Compliance for the Somerset County School System where she had worked for 24 years.
She was a devoted member of Marion Baptist Church where she was active in Vacation Bible School, and she spear-headed the Crisfield First Baptist Church Soup Kitchen. Vicky was an active volunteer for many church and community fund-raisers and was also a former member of the Marion Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. The sport of field hockey was a prevalent part of her life. She was a Rec. League Coach for many years, even recently coaching her granddaughter, and was former Crisfield High School Varsity Field Hockey Coach for 20 years. Most of all, Vicky loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren she adored.
A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she was survived by her mother, Doreen Mahan Bishop of Westover; her husband of 38 years, Gordon Lee "Bunky" Ford of Marion Station; her daughter, Emily Ford Larmore and husband Chris of Pocomoke City; her son, Russell Ford and wife Chelsea of Westover; grandchildren, Yurii Christopher Larmore, Jillian Sophie Larmore, Colton Elmer Larmore, Brynn Marie Larmore, Elliott Grace Larmore, Bristyn Rae Ford, and Emmalyn Charlee Ford; her brothers, Charles Steven Bishop and wife Cathy of Cordova, MD, and Glen William Bishop and wife Gladys Jane of Marion Station; her sister, Cindy Bishop Dize and husband Bill of Westover; her mother-in-law, Minnie Ford of Princess Anne; and her nephews and niece, Jeremy Bishop of Crisfield, Jason Dize of Westover, Elaine Daniels and husband John of Westover, and Derek Dize of Westover.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Olan Bishop; and her father-in-law, Elmer Ford.
A memorial service officiated by Rev. Joe Barnes and Rev. Tim Shawyer will be Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at Marion Baptist Church Hall. A private funeral service and interment in Pitts Creek Cemetery in Pocomoke will be held prior.
