Vernon D. Evans, 89, of Marion Station, died Monday, March 28, 2016 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born in Kingston on July 18, 1926, he was a son of the late John and Stella Bradshaw Evans.
He was a retired machinist, working for Stewart Shipyard and Coca-Cola. He was a US Navy World War II veteran and enjoyed woodworking and building model boats.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances L. Thornton Evans; two children, Bonnie Smith and husband Duane of Marion Station and Dale Edward Evans of Bulls Gap, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Eric Evans of Crisfield, Renee Evans of Delmar, DE, and Leah Jerez of Crisfield; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John T. Evans; and a sister, Novella Czyz.
A graveside service and interment officiated by the Rev. Terry Riggin will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2 PM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
