Verna Mae Simonenko, 66, of Crisfield and formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at McCready Memorial Hospital.

Born in Crisfield July 13, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Melton and Annabell Townsend Joyner.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1969, she was head custodian for Broward County School System in Ft. Lauderdale working 20 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert L. Simonenko of Crisfield; two children, Angela Stuebe and husband Tony and David Simonenko, all of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Angelic Simonenko of Miami, and Justin Conner, Andrew Paul Conner and Nathan Stuebe, all of Crisfield; one great-granddaughter, Anaisa Gonzales; three brothers, Melton Joyner, Jr., Jordan "Bo" Joyner, and Rommel Joyner and wife Linda, all of Crisfield; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Nick and Joanne Simonenko of Plantation, FL and Lydia and Jack Kirstatter of Plant City, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
