Obituary

Thomas Earl "Tom" Berry, 56, of Crisfield and formerly of Louisiana and New Jersey, died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Phillipsburg, NJ on August 24, 1961, he was a son of Vern and Barbara Berry of Marion Station.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1980, he then enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served 10 years.  Throughout his life he worked as a correctional officer, poultry farmer, and most recently as a security guard at McCready Hospital in Crisfield.  He was also a volunteer fire fighter at Wakefield Fire Department in Wakefield, LA.

Tom was an avid animal lover who enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard, gardening flowers and vegetables, going to the beach, and making "kindness rocks" for the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute at PRMC.  Most of all, he loved and was devoted to his family.  His life revolved around the activities of his children and grandchildren and he loved attending all of their sports events and various activities.

In addition to his parents, Vern and Barbara Berry, he is survived by his wife, Dee Berry of Crisfield; three daughters, April Figgs of Gaithersburg, MD, Anna Berry and husband Mikeal McGhee, and Elizabeth Berry, all of St. Francisville, LA; step-children, Eddie Broadwater, Kim Cygan, Carol Bocash, and Bobby Broadwater; brother, Doug Berry and wife Sherry of Camden, SC; sister, Kim Bruno and husband Barry of Princess Anne; 10 grandchildren, Robert Christopher, Dakota Thomas, Avery Cornelius, Anna Grace "Gracie", Brock, Katlyn, Connor, Cadin, Tristen, and Riley "Giggles"; nieces and nephew, Melissa Seel and husband Ricky, T.J. Berry and wife Heather, Kaitlynn Mills, and Maddison Bruno; several step-grandchildren; two great nephews; and one great niece.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2 PM at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church Crisfield Campus, 22 E. Chesapeake Avenue, where a viewing will be one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Tom Bunting will officiate.  Interment with military honors will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.
