Suzanne Hall Coons, 94, of Rehobeth, MD, died Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Macky and Pam Stansel House of Coastal Hospice in Ocean Pines.

Born in Crisfield on April 5, 1929, she was raised in Marion Station and was the only child of the late William J. Hall, Jr. and Ruth Porter Hall.  Her husband of 67 years, Earl C. Coons, preceded her in death on June 3, 2020.

She was a graduate of Marion High School class of 1946, and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and education from Western Maryland College in 1950.

She taught Social Studies and English at Crisfield High School from 1953 until 1958, and was Librarian there from 1963 until 1969 when she retired.  She always enjoyed teaching and had a special connection with students in classes 1956, 1957, 1958, and 1959.  She also worked with her husband in managing the family tree farm and poultry houses.

Active in her community, her memberships included Somerset County Bible Society, Nanticoke Chapter of DAR, Wicomico Chapter #93 Order of the Eastern Star, and she was a member of the first Somerset County Library Board serving several terms.  She was a member of Rehobeth Methodist Church in her later years.

She enjoyed working on genealogical research with the DAR, local history, and flowers.

She is survived by her son, William Hall Coons of Marion Station; and her triplet grandsons who were the center of her life since they were born in 2003, Lance Joseph Coons, Benjamin Hall Coons, and Daniel Porter Coons.  She was also survived by several in-laws, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

A graveside memorial service and urn interment will be Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.  Reverends Harvey and Alana Tyler will officiate.

Flowers will be accepted as flowers were a special hobby of Mrs. Coons, or donations in her memory may be made to Marion Fire Department, P.O. Box 143, Marion Station, MD 21838.
