Susan Carol Hose, 71, of Crisfield and formerly of Glen Burnie, died Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the home of her mother in Crisfield.

Born in Glen Burnie on June 13, 1950, she was a daughter of Alfreda Lehmann Garpstas of Crisfield and the late Joseph J. Garpstas.

She was a retired Correctional Officer at Eastern Correctional Institution and was an alcohol counselor at the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

She loved to read books, do cross word puzzles and was known for her ornery personality.

She is survived by her mother, Alfreda Garpstas; son, Brian Garpstas; Carlene Wells who was like a daughter to her; three granddaughters, Ashley Garpstas and fiancé Brian Cullen, Amber Fernau and husband Alex, and Emily Garpstas; great-grandchildren, Anabelle Garpstas, Kathryn Cullen, Adam Fernau and another great-granddaughter is on the way; sister, Brenda Garpstas; Bonnie (Louise) Moore who was like a sister to her; and an uncle, Donald Braithwaite.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dougie Garpstas; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Jean Cullen.

No services are planned at this time.
