Obituary

Stewart F. Emely, Jr., 82, of Crisfield, went to Heaven on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on December 4, 1941, he was a son of the late Stewart F. Emely, Sr. and Clara Tyler Emely.

Stewart was a 1959 graduate of Crisfield High School and served in the MD Army National Guard for 25 years until his retirement. He worked as a waterman for 30 years, was a truck driver for Delmarva Oil during the winter months, and most recently was a park ranger at Janes Island State Park.

Stewart loved his church, golfing, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, racing in remote control boat clubs and was an expert of mechanical repairs.

A faithful member of the Crisfield Church of God, he served on the Pastor's Council since the 1970's, was an adult Sunday School Teacher, was a Lay Speaker for Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, assisted Chincoteague Church of God for seven years, and traveled on numerous mission trips including three trips to Brazil. He was a devoted man of God who enjoyed praying for and visiting with the sick and shut-ins.  As a very special friend of his said, "He was a wonderful man who lived his whole life to go to heaven".

He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Joanna Walston Emely; children, Bruce Emely and wife Elizabeth and Lisa Walter and husband Alex; brothers, Paul Emely and companion Toni Mrohs, and David Emely; grandchildren, Brucie Emely and Alex Walter, Jr.; his special friend, Charles "Chalky" Goldsborough; several nieces and nephews; and many other close friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Lee Emely; and sisters-in-law, Deborah Emely and Wanda Emely.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Crisfield Church of God at 1PM with a viewing from 12-1 PM. Reverends Harvey Tyler and Michael Vaughan will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
