Obituary

Steven Robert Marshall, 60, of Crisfield, died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Crisfield September 27, 1955, he was a son of Bobby Lee and Jean Bozman Marshall of Crisfield.

He was a graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1973 and attended St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Steve was the director of Emergency Services for Somerset County since February of 1993, and was responsible for the 9-1-1 Communications Center, Emergency Management, the Emergency Operations Center and Risk Management.

Steve devoted his life to service to others. He was a leader, pillar of his community, and a public servant. Some of his memberships include Crisfield Fire Department Life Member, Chaplain and Past Assistant Chief /President, Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad Charter Member, Life Member, and Past Captain/President, Maryland Emergency Management Association Past President, National and Maryland Emergency Numbers Association Board Member, Governor's Emergency Management Advisory Committee Past Member, Delmarva Emergency Task Force, Chairman of Somerset County LEPC, Eastern Shore Alliance Public Safety Answering Point Directors, Somerset County Volunteer Fireman's Association Past President, Marion Lions Club Past President, Immanuel U. M. Church Sunday School Superintendant/Chairman Church Council, Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce Past President Board of Directors, Somerset County Historical Society, Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044 Past Chaplain, Sons of the American Legion of Stanley Cochrane Post #16, City of Crisfield Planning Commission Chairman, United Way Board of Directors Past Vice President, McCready Memorial Hospital Board of Directors Past President/Life Member, International Association of Emergency Managers, Chesapeake Masonic Lodge #147 AF & AM Past Member, Former Crisfield Kiwanis Club Past President, Maryland Fire Chief's Association, Crisfield Heritage Foundation Past Board of Directors.

Along with his parents, Bobby and Jean Marshall, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sherree Sharpless Marshall of Crisfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and Jeff Cuff of Crisfield and Heather and William Tyler of Westover; four grandchildren, Alex, Jeffrey, Peyton and James; two brothers, David Marshall and wife Christine of Virginia and Dale Marshall of Crisfield; a niece, Stacie Reddish of Salisbury; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2 PM at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield where a visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 PM. The Rev. Paul Holland will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
