Obituary

Stanley Lake Conner, 80, of Marion Station, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at his home.

Born in Martinsville, VA on October 10, 1942, he was a son of the late Stanley Fletcher Conner and Janie Lee Coons Conner.

Stanley was a 1960 graduate of the former Marion High School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Maryland Institute of Art. He worked for Somerset County Public Schools as an Art Teacher and later as a driver's education teacher at Crisfield High School where he later retired.  He worked as a Correctional Officer at ECI for several years, and most recently he worked at the former Clarence Sterling & Son Hardware until his health declined.

Very active in his community, he was a member of the Chesapeake Masonic Lodge #147 AF and AM, was a long-time member of the Marion Fire Department, and was a member of Rehobeth Methodist Church.

Stanley's passion was art. He was an accomplished artist who loved to paint Somerset County scenes including historic homes and churches, landscapes, boats, and water scenes. He was an avid history buff, and especially loved Somerset County history. He also enjoyed drag racing with his friend Sterling Clough. Finally, he looked forward to his daily visits around town to see his friends at Gordon's, Marion Pharmacy, and Tawes Brothers Auto.

He is survived by his companion of 40 years, Lek Fetzer of Pocomoke and her son and grandson Mark and Dale Fetzer; his children, Brent Conner and wife Tina of Crisfield and Noel Marshall of Marion and her fiance Henry Snyder of Chincoteague; brothers, Andrew Craig Conner of Richmond, VA and Patrick Wayne Conner and wife Vicki of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Justin Conner, Paul Conner, and Caitlyn Marshall and fiance Jay Paro, all of Crisfield, and Carly Marshall and Cassidy Marshall, both of Marion; great-grandchild, Maddox; special aunt, Suzanne Coons; and nephew, Nathan Conner.

Funeral services at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 2 PM with a visitation from 1-2 PM. Rev. Stephen S. Willing will officiate and interment will follow at the Conner Family Farm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are wished to be made to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, Crisfield, MD 21817.
