SHIRLEY MILBOURNE MADDOX, 85, formerly of Crisfield, Maryland, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Vindobona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights, Maryland.

Born in Crisfield on January 31, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Gordon E. and Eva Hayman Milbourne. She had been a life long resident of Crisfield until 2003, when she and her husband moved to Frederick County, Maryland to reside closer to family.

For most of her life, Mrs. Maddox was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield. Her love of music, especially religious, led her to participate in a popular music trio that performed regionally, including on a Salisbury, Maryland radio station in the late 30's, and to serve in the church choir for 60 years. She was also a member of the Methodist Women, and was a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William B. Maddox, Jr. of Braddock Heights; one son, Douglas E. Maddox, Sr. and his wife Linda M. of Braddock Heights; a Son-In-Law, Porter Tawes of Severna Park; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Maddox Tawes in 1994; three sisters, Agnes Milbourne Tull, Naomi Milbourne Howard and Ruth Milbourne Turner; and one brother, Morris L. Milbourne.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 2:30 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield. The Rev.'s Thomas Blakelock, Terry Riggin and Jeff James will officiate. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the fellowship meal in the church basement immediately following interment.
