Shirley Ann Greene, 76, of Crisfield, MD passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Shirley was born in Crisfield on November 11, 1946, to the late Roger and Laura "Shirley" Thomas Evans.
Shirley was a graduate of Crisfield High School and the Delmarva Beauty Academy. She was a former hairdresser and was also employed at the former Carvel Hall, former Peyton Pharmacy, former Chris Craft, and Rubberset.
She attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield and enjoyed singing in the Asbury Choir. She was known for her singing and enjoyed sharing her gift with her family, friends, church, and community.
Shirley was a kind soul who was generous with her love and friendship. She had an outgoing, lively personality that drew people in. To know her was to love her. Shirley enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as family gatherings, fishing, watching a good tennis match on TV, and playing cards and bingo with her friends. She was unabashedly proud of her family member's achievements.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Wooster and her husband Bruce; special nephews, Chris Ward and his wife Jen, and Ryan Wooster and his wife Jessica; stepson, Mike Greene and his son, Heath Greene; nieces and nephews, Kelly Greene, Kevin Greene and his wife Renee, Charlotte Mullins Baker, Philip Willie and his wife Mary, Lisa Schuyler and her husband Tommy, and Jay Newcomb; many great-nephews and great-nieces including goddaughter Natalie Ward, Colin Ward, and Delaney Wooster; close friends, Ethel Abbott and Lois Jones; and her beloved cat, Belle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church with visitation starting an hour prior. Rev. Hubert Jicha and Rev. Stephen S. Willing will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Somerset County, P.O. Box 493, Princess Anne, MD 21853; or to Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Jane Riggin, 26128 Byrd Road, Crisfield, MD 21817.
