Shirley Marie Corbett, 82, of Dames Quarter, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Specialty Select at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington.

Born in Dames Quarter on April 28, 1935, she was a daughter of the late William Ernest Shores and Harriett Elizabeth Bozman Fleming. Her loving husband of 66 years, James Corbett, died April 23, 2017.

Shirley was a retired nurse and a faithful member of Somerset United Methodist Church in Dames Quarter and was active in the DAVA (Disabled Veterans Auxiliary). She loved cooking, playing Scrabble, and spending time with her husband, family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Connie Hill and husband Steve of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Terry Jones of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Jones; and her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Mae and Gerald Dawson.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 2 PM at Somerset U. M. Church in Dames Quarter where a viewing will be one hour prior. Pastors Jamie DeVaughn and Joanne Hartman will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Wenona.
