SARAH JANET TODD, 89, of Crisfield, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born in Solomons, Maryland on June 11, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Blanche Allen Abbott. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. (Eppie) Todd, Jr., with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1988.
She was a Past Matron of the former Chesapeake Chapter No. 28 Order of the Eastern Star, and a Grand Officer of the Grand Chapter of Maryland, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church and the Pollyanna Sunday School Class.
She was an avid fisherman and loved going fishing with "Eppie" or working with him in their vegetable garden. She also spent some time working at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home as a Nurses Aide. Her greatest joy was her family. She spent many years taking care of family members, including her mother, sister, and members of the extended Todd family including her in-laws.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Caldwell and her husband, Don, of Crisfield, and granddaughter, Sarah Mae Caldwell-Brown and her husband, Jesse, of Hebron; her son, George W. Todd, III and his wife, Ruthie, of Crisfield, and grandchildren, George W. (Toddie) Todd, IV and his wife, Amy, and great-grandchildren, Alex and Samantha of Crisfield; Angela (Dee Dee) Todd and great-grandchildren, Brooks, Elaina and Robbie of Crisfield; and Jonathon Todd and his wife, Angie, and great-grandchildren, Will and Amaya of Princess Anne.
Also surviving are her nephew, Doug Curtis and his wife, Patti, and their son, Douglas, Jr. of Crisfield; and a special "cousin", Lynette Ward and her family of Lusby, MD.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters and their husbands, Evelyn and Kenneth Oberry of Solomons, and Lorraine and Max Curtis and their son, Dean, formerly of Lusby, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
