Samuel C. "Sam" Matthews, Jr., 71, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home.

Born in Crisfield December 30, 1943, he was a son of the late Samuel C. and Hayward Elizabeth Lewis Matthews.

He was a life-long waterman and truly loved being on his boat working. He made a very big impact on the watermen's community and will be missed. He was also a US Navy veteran and attended the Crisfield Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 11 years, Lottie Matthews of Crisfield; his son, Mitchel Matthews of Baltimore; his step-son, Charles McDorman and wife Jenni of Marion; his sister, Donna Hansen and husband Larry of Longview, Washington; his brother, Bobby Matthews and wife Becky of Vero Beach, FL; two very special granddaughters, Madi and Marli McDorman of Marion; a special cousin, Charlene Ling and husband Don of Middletown, NJ; several nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Matthews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 7-9 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. A graveside service and interment with military honors will be held Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11 AM at Asbury Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
