Obituary

Sally Ann Wicht, 93, of Crisfield and formerly of Bridgehampton, New York and Spencer, New York, died Saturday, October 7, 2023 at her home.

Born in Warren, Ohio on September 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Paul (Paavo Armas) Laven and Laimi Bjorn Laven.  Her husband, Frederick C. Wicht, Jr., preceded her in death on March 15, 1997.

She was a graduate of Spencer Central School in Spencer, NY and served her country in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1952-1954. She was office manager for many years at her husband's dental practice in New York.

She had been making her home in Crisfield since 1992, following her and her late husband's retirement.  She attended the former Mt. Pleasant U. M. Church in Crisfield and enjoyed participating and helping in various capacities.  She was also a member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion in Crisfield.  She enjoyed sewing and crafting.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Wicht of Pocomoke, MD; her sister-in-law, Erika B. Laven of TX; and her nephews and nieces, Thomas Laven and Anita Laven Whyte, both of TX, Robert Feeney of NY, and Susan Christian of SC.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul A. Laven and his twin brother David J. Laven who died in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Alice Feeney.

Funeral services will take place at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Hurlock, MD on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11 AM.
