Ruth Ann Rettig, 78, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield, she was a daughter of the late Cleve and Esther Anderson Somers.

She was a retired LPN, working at McCready Hospital for 30 years, Eastern Correctional Institution for 18 years, and later at Snow Hill Nursing Home.

She was a member of Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Larry Rettig of Crisfield; three children, Shelley Byrd and husband Mike of Crisfield, Benson Tracy Jones of Salisbury, and Troy Wesley Jones and wife Marion of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Brandi Riggin and husband Roger and Michael Ryan Byrd and his significant other Marshonia Mcclendon of Crisfield; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Riggin, Evan Riggin, Dajah Byrd, and Michael Ryan Byrd, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Melvin, Edwin, Stanley, and Lawrence Somers, Frances Matthews, and Mary Elizabeth Bowen.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Terry Riggin will be held Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2 PM at Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield. There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
