RUTH WILSON MADDRIX, 87, of Crisfield and Towson, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson.
Born in Crisfield on November 17, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Jack Wilson and Margaret Bain Croswell. Her husband, Arthur Logan "Buck" Maddrix, preceded her in death in 2004.
She was a homemaker and a graduate of Crisfield High School.
She enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph's Hospital in Towson, knitting booties and bonnets for newborn babies. She was an accomplished duckpin bowler, and was an avid sports fan who especially loved the Baltimore Colts, Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. She was an incredible ballroom dancer, and was very proud of the many contests she won with her husband. She was also a great cook who was well-known for her prize-winning crab cakes. Most of all, she loved her family. She lived for those moments when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren surrounded her at family gatherings.
She is survived by two children, Carole Maddrix Windsor of Columbia and Scott Wilson Maddrix of Hampstead; six grandchildren, Stephen Windsor, Nicole Windsor and husband John Schropp, Melissa Schropp and husband Jeff Schropp, Katie Windsor, Corey Maddrix and Timothy Maddrix; two great-grandchildren, Ella Maddrix Schropp and Jack Stephen Schropp; a sister, Anne Nelson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her son-in-law, Edward Windsor; and her nieces and nephews, Mark and Mary Evans, Lisa Evans and Barbara Hanrahan, Steve Holland, Nancy Crosby and Lit Dryden.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Windsor; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan and Ralph Evans, Dorothy and Lit Dryden, Virginia Stant, and Woodrow Wilson Nelson.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
