Ruth Grace Briddell Lawson, 94, of Eden and formerly of Orlando and Crisfield, died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield September 28, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Charles D. Briddell, Sr. and Gracie Mae Maddox Briddell. Her husband, Alfred J. "Tut" Lawson, Jr., died in 1966.

She was a graduate of Crisfield High School and obtained a degree in business from Averett College in Danville, Virginia. Along with her husband, she owned and operated grocery stores in Delaware and Crisfield.

A resident of Orlando from 1970-2007, she was a member of Lynnhaven Baptist Church there. While in Crisfield, she was a member of First Baptist Church and was a life member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Chesapeake Chapter #28. She loved to travel.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Lawson Dryden and husband Larry C. Dryden of Eden; a son, Kim Lawson and wife Tillie Doyle of Crisfield; daughter-in-law, Ann Ward Lawson of Crisfield; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Alfred J. "A.J." Lawson, III in 2006 and C. Keith Lawson in 2008; and brothers and sisters, Charles Briddell, Jr., Willis Briddell, Tom Briddell, Evelyn Andrews, and Phyllis Hayden.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11 AM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Pastor Jack "Tad" Maroon will officiate.
