Ruth Virginia Bradshaw, 92, of Ewell on Smith Island, died on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne.

Born on Tylerton, Smith Island, she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. Smith, Sr. and Annie Parks Smith. She was a homemaker. Her husband, J. Willroy Bradshaw, was longtime owner of the Smith Island Oil Co., died on July 25, 1986.

She was a member of the Ewell United Methodist Church and was the first president of the ladies auxiliary of the Ewell Vol. Fire Dept.

Surviving are her daughters, Marilou Sterling and her husband Richard of York, PA, and Donna Jean Laird and her husband Terry of Ewell; two sisters, Lila Marsh of Harborton, VA and Peggy Corbin of Tylerton; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband Willroy, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David Sterling, brothers, Edwin, Jr., Harold, Gene, Jimmy and Billy Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 2 PM at the Ewell United Methodist Church with the Pastor Rick Edmund officiating. Interment will be in the Ewell Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 10 – 11 AM or at the church from 7 – 9 PM.
