Obituary

ROSE MARIE "SWEETSIE" LANDON, 80, of Crisfield, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on January 16, 1928, she was a daughter of the late W. Washington and Agnes Justice Tyler. Her husband of 56 years, Charles Lee Landon, died January 22, 2005.

A Crisfield High School Graduate of the class of 1944, "Sweetsie" was a retired cafeteria manager at the former Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield. Prior, she worked at Rubberset Corp., the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchens, and was a telephone operator for the former C&P Telephone Company.

She was a member of Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield where she sang in the choir. She loved flowers gardening, and most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, David Lee Landon and wife Carrie of Portsmouth, Virginia and Susan Smith and husband Ted of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Kelly Parks of Crisfield, Chad Landon of Summerville, South Carolina and Zachary Landon of Walterboro, South Carolina; her sister, Joan Tawes of Salisbury; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, William Cranston "Snooks" Tyler, Charles "Dolly" Tyler, Eugene "Bay" Tyler, Wayne Tyler and Philip "Buster" Tyler; and three sisters, Helen Chaffey, Faye Tyler and June Tyler Landon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 2 PM at Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Samuel Horner will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
