Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Payne, 79, of Pocomoke City, died Monday, August 14, 2023 at his home.

Born April 6, 1944 in Crisfield and raised in Marion Station, he was a son of the late Harry L. Payne and Doris Mae Howard Payne.

He was a 1962 graduate of Crisfield High School and also celebrated class reunions with Marion High School class of 1962.  He was retired Foreman at Chesapeake Chip Mill and retired Repack Associate at Sysco.  In addition, he was also a talented woodworker and painter.

Mr. Payne was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pocomoke City, and most recently attended the First Baptist Church in Princess Anne. He was an avid train collector, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of ten years, Dorothy Anne "Dot" Williams Payne of Pocomoke City; two daughters, April Porter (Chris) of Pocomoke City and Joy Adkins (Bobby) of Westover; a brother, Harry L. Payne, Jr. (Debbie) of Stockton; two sisters, Elaine Powell of Salisbury and Louise Kurek (Tom) of Ohio; four grandchildren, Jennifer Howard (Adam), Justin Porter (Ivan), Shelby Collins, and Daniel Collins; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Howard, Crew Howard, and Carrington Collins; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary Hurley Payne on May 3, 2012; and his beloved pet dog "Kandi".

Funeral services will be Friday, August 18, 2023 at 1 PM at First Baptist Church in Princess Anne where a viewing will be one hour prior.  Pastor Jamie DeVaughn and Rev. John Carpenter will officiate.  Interment will follow in First Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke City.
