Mr. Ronald Martin DeClement, 74, of Princess Anne, MD passed away on March 8, 2024, after an extended illness.

Born February 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Henry DeClement and Stella Cristino DeClement.

Ron attended and graduated from Paul Smith's College in upstate New York and Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA.

He was employed at Cambridge South Dorchester High School as a Science teacher for over 25 years.  Prior to teaching, he worked at Bountiful Ridge Nursery, which is the job that brought him to Princess Anne where he lived the rest of his life.

Ron loved poetry (often quoting lines from various favorite poems word for word), gardening, horseback riding, and pigeons which he had since he was 10 years old.  Ron enjoyed helping the younger generation and often tutored students and friends after school and over summer break.  He also enjoyed giving riding lessons and sharing his farm with family and friends, often hosting summer and winter parties at his house that involved games and great food.

His devotion to the Catholic religion was well known to his immediate friends and family.  His love and dedication to preserving and maintaining the grounds of his historic estate in Princess Anne was also a lifetime passion, especially after retiring from his high school teaching career.  Ron often talked of the joy and peace he got from mowing the back pasture and watching the surrounding fields of maturing wheat blowing in the wind on a beautiful summer day.

Ron is survived by his brother Kenneth William DeClement and his wife Barbara.  Ron was very fortunate to have many great friends and family with whom he was close with and talked to frequently.  Especially close to Ron were Tim Starr and his family (wife Debbie and sons Garrett and Colby), Daryl Layfield Insley, and Janet Culbertson.

Graveside funeral services will be private in Olivet Cemetery.
