Roland Lee Lankford, 87, of Marion, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born in Annapolis on February 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Roland Lewis Lankford and Mae Riggin Lankford.
He was retired from the Natural Resources Police after 30 years of service. He was a US Army Air Force World War II veteran, member of Stanley Cochrane American Legion Post #16, and Mariners United Methodist Church where he was very active and served as chairman of the trustees. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace Marie Brimer Lankford of Marion; sisters-in-law, Florence Pickett and husband Marlin of Ocean City and Madeline Brimer of Princess Anne; nieces and nephews, Bruce and Amanda "Mandy" Brimer of Shelltown, Walter and Karen Sparks of Middletown, MD, Connie and Alan Dykes of Kansas and Deborah and Roy Johanson of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; and other relatives, Marilyn Sterling and Pat Carter of Crisfield, Sally Sterling of Towson, and Richard Sterling of York, PA.
Funeral services officiated by the Reverends Todd Hurley and James Riley will be Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 2 PM at Mariners U. M. Church in Crisfield where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
