Robert Lee Tyler, 87, of Ewell, Smith Island, died Friday, March 15, 2019 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born on Smith Island August 13, 1931, he was a son of the late John D. and Stella Meyers Tyler.  His wife of 54 years, Elsie Mae Dize Tyler, died May 21, 2018.

He was a waterman and worked for ANEC for many years.

He was a member of Ewell United Methodist Church where he was janitor, and was member and Past Chief of Ewell Volunteer Fire Department.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and playing softball.

He is survived by five children, Robert "Bobby" Tyler of Baltimore, Rebecca Rippons of Crisfield, Morgan Lee Tyler and wife Jill of Hebron, Paula K. Tyler of Cambridge, and Jonathan Tyler and wife Christi of Salisbury; grandchildren, Colleen, Scott, Austin, Josh, Toby, Tony, Joe, Caitlyn, and Sarah; a niece, Barbara Smith of Salisbury; a nephew, John Evans of Hebron; and several great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Cecil Riggin; and a granddaughter, Stephanie.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2 PM at Ewell U. M. Church.  Rev. Everett Landon will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. Jim Evans.  Viewings will be Friday morning from 10-11 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home and Friday evening from 7-9 at the church.  Interment will be in Ewell Church Cemetery.

The boat Chelsea will be leaving from the Somers Cove Marina on Saturday, March 23rd at 12 noon for anyone attending the services.
