Robert Henry Sterling, Sr., 90, of Marion Station, died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Crisfield July 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Newman and Lula Maye Sterling Wells. His wife, Janice Virginia Short Sterling died May 5, 2013.
He was a farmer and a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 40 year member and past president of the Marion Lions Club, and was a member of the Somerset County Farm Bureau. He loved his work, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Sharon Dickey and husband Sergei of Newark, DE; a sister, Lula Anne Taylor and husband Bob of Parsonsburg; a half brother, Charles Wells of Crisfield; nine grandchildren, Robert H. Sterling, III of Laurel, DE, Michael Ryan Sterling and wife Amber of Shelltown, Kristen McLaughlin and husband Charlie of Cordova, Tiffany Sterling of Crisfield, John Sterling of Dunkirk, MD, Arnie Dunn and wife Kristen of Wilmington, Sherri East and husband Jack of Crisfield, Sheila Kinzel and husband Kris of North Port, Florida, and Jill Tyler and husband Morgan of Hebron; his close family friends, John Townsend and Sammy Insley of Crisfield; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Henry Sterling, Jr. in 1990; a step-son, Perry Dennis Cooper in 2008; a sister, Virginia Maye Sterling; and an infant child.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Charles Jacobson will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Quindocqua U. M. Church or Marion Lions Club.
