Robert G. Shutt, 79, of Hearts Ease near Crisfield MD, formerly of Yorklyn, DE passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Mr. Shutt was a graduate of A.I. duPont High School, and served his country in the U.S. Marines. Robert was a pitcher for the Wilmington Blue Rocks from 1951-52 and was a member of the Kennett Square Baseball Hall of Fame. He was employed with the DuPont Company before retiring, was a member of Ionic Lodge #31 A. F. & A. M. and was also an avid fisherman, boater and camper.
He is survived by his wife Joan Shutt; his children, Robert G. Shutt of Georgetown, DE, William E. Shutt and his wife Bernadette of Wilmington, DE, Debborah Minakowski and her husband Charles of Newark, DE and Kimberly Dula and her husband William of Suwanee, GA., his daughter in-law Peggy Vavalla and his grandchildren, Bernadette, Angelique, Bill, Robert and Morgan.
A viewing will be held on Saturday June 21, at 11am. in the McCrery Memorial Chapel, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd, followed by the funeral service at 12:30. Burial will follow in Hockessin Friends Cemetery, Old Wilmington Rd, Hockessin. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hockessin United Methodist Church, 7250 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707, or Ionic Lodge, Newport Temple, 112 E .Market St. Newport, DE 19804.
