Robert Kraus, 94, of Crisfield, died Friday, October 8, 2021 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Germantown, PA on June 15, 1927, he was a son of the late George Carl and Grace Baker Kraus.
A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a bus operator for 39 years working for Public Service Coordinated Transit which later became New Jersey Transit.
His memberships included Amalgamated Transit Union #880 and the former VFW Post #8274. He enjoyed gardening and spending time in his workshop tinkering on his car and grass cutter; and he also loved spending time with his three grandsons and his Goddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Katharine Elizabeth Mitchell Kraus of Crisfield; two sons, Robert William Kraus and wife Pamela of Hammonton, NJ and William Robert Kraus and wife Lisa of Crisfield; a sister, Marion Bailey of Elizabethtown, PA; three grandsons, Robert Justin Kraus of Hammonton, NJ, Bradley William Kraus of Crisfield, and Ryan Mitchell Kraus of Crisfield; a Goddaughter, Shawna Forbes of Coral Springs, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mina Haydu, George Carl "Jimmy" Kraus, Irma Seaman, Edwin Kraus, William "Billy" Kraus, and Mae Carter.
A graveside funeral service with military honors will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 12 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery. Father Mike Lokey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 245, Marion Station, MD 21838; or Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home, Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817.
