Obituary

Robert Monroe Jones, 80, of Marion Station, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

Born in Baltimore on December 20, 1941, he was a son of the late Robert M. and Doris Fogler Jones.

Robert was a US Navy Vietnam veteran stationed off the coast of Vietnam on the E.A. Greene in 1966. He served from1965-1967 and was discharged as Fire Control Tech 3 rd Class. After serving his country, he went on to attend the University of Maryland and graduated in 1970. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree, he continued his education, receiving his Master of Business Administration at G. W. University in 1979.

He was a Hospital Administrator and worked in hospitals in five states, some of which included, President of Tuxedo Hospital in Tuxedo, NY, President of Rockville Hospital in Rockville, CT, and most recently, President of the former McCready Hospital in Crisfield, MD.  During his administration at McCready, he spearheaded the new construction of the current Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

He was a life member of Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044, member of Stanley Cochrane American Legion Post #16 in Crisfield, founding member of Somers Cove Yacht Club in Crisfield, member of Hoffman Masonic Lodge in Middletown, NY, Cyprus Shriners in Albany, NY, and Scottish Rites in Valley of the Hudson, NY. His passion was sailing. He sailed up and down the east coast as far north as Maine and as far south as Florida.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Margaret "Meg" Gott Jones of Marion Station; children, Kristina Megard of Cremieu, France and Robert M. Jones of Georgetown, DE; granddaughters, Autumn Fritz of New York and Astrid E. Megard of Cremieu, France; and a brother, Richard L. Jones.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James C. Jones; and his sister, Doris L. Jones.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
