Obituary

Robert Wesley "Bob" Benson, 93, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.

Bob was born December 10, 1924 near Princess Anne, the son of the late Stanley F. and Helen Propst Benson.

Bob was a graduate of Washington High School in 1942 and received an AA Degree from Salisbury State in 1948.  He served in the US Navy as a corpsman in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Bob was the manager of Cohn and Bock Lumber Company and assistant manager of Rubberset in Crisfield.  In 1973, Bob and his wife, Addie, started Benson Paint Center & Decorating in Salisbury followed by Addie's Interiors in Delmar, DE in 1984.

Bob served two years as president of the Delmarva Lumberman's Association and rose from third vice-president to president in the Delmar Lions Club.  He was an active youth leader-serving as a Sunday School teacher and UMYF counselor at Antioch UMC.  Bob also sang in the choir and served as a board trustee.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Addie Lou Parks Benson; a son, Robert A. Benson and his wife Terri of Salisbury; a daughter, Linda Kreit and her husband Rob of Virginia; two very special granddaughters, Ashley Benson of Baltimore, MD and Sara Benson of Newport News, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Joyce Benson of Westover; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lester Benson.

Memorial services with military honors will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 AM at Antioch United Methodist Church in Princess Anne.  Nephew, Burt Parks will officiate.  Immediately following the memorial service, the family will receive friends in the Antioch Fellowship Hall where a light lunch will be served.
