Richard B. "Dicky" Ward, 80, of Rehobeth, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield after a long illness.
Born May 4, 1928 in Crisfield he was the son of the late Earl B. and Carrie I. Handy Ward. Dicky served proudly with the U.S. Army as Sergeant 1st Class with the 13th Tng Company in the Korean Conflict. He had formerly worked at the former Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield and was also a retired poultry farmer. Dicky enjoyed many hobbies and excelled at wood working, a self-taught craft.
He was a proud member of the Somerset Free Methodist Church where he enjoyed "humming" with the choir. He was always available to be of service to his church serving on many committees. He also spent many years as a volunteer with the Crisfield Fire Department.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 39 years, Priscilla "Bea" Mahan Ward, whom he married on November 21, 1969; a step-son, Michael Lambertson and his wife, Terry of Westover; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Lee Watt of Salisbury; two nieces, Jennifer Myers of Salisbury and Nancy Myers of Georgia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield. The Rev. Samuel Horner will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield where military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Friends may call at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield Tuesday from 7-9 P.M. or at the church one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
