Obituary

Richard Franklin "Dickie" Swift, Sr., 64, of Delmar, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield November 10, 1950, he was a son of the late Norman Swift, Sr. and Hazel Harris Murphy. His step-father who raised him, Richard Butler, also preceded him in death.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1968, he was retired from the heating and air conditioning industry. He was also a US Army Vietnam veteran.

He loved restoring cars, gardening and his beloved pet dachshund "Prissee".

He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Betty Ann Poole Swift of Delmar; his son, Richard F. Swift, Jr. and wife Jodi of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Brett and Kassidy Swift; a brother, Clifton Butler and Denise of Millsboro; a sister, Donna Knowles and husband Tim of Salisbury; and two half brothers, Norman Swift, Jr. of Crisfield and Melvin Swift of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Thomas "Chip" Butler, Jr.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 2 PM at St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion. Pastor Mike Rittenhouse will officiate.
