REGINALD LEE MORGAN, SR., 82, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 15, 2008 from the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born in Crisfield on November 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Barney Bayne and Evelyn Dize Morgan.
Reggie served in the US Navy during World War II on the destroyer escort, "USS Johnnie Hutchins". He saw action in the Pacific Ocean and received the Pacific Theater Ribbon (3 stars), American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon (1 star).
He was a member of the Crisfield Church of God since 1946, where he was a former Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and served on the Pastor's Council.
Mr. Morgan was a retired salesman and route supervisor for the former Wholesome Bread Company in Crisfield, working 27 years until their closing. He also worked in many facets of the seafood industry and was regarded as a highly skilled shaft tonger.
He often said the thing he was most proud of was his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jeanette Riggin Morgan of Crisfield; seven children, Regena Goldsborough and husband Charles "Chalkie" of Crisfield, Nancy Clayton and husband Don, Joy Hawke and husband Gene, Robert Morgan and wife Linda, and Pam Matthews and husband Robin, all of Salisbury, Reginald Morgan, Jr. and wife Lois of Fruitland and Crystal Frey and husband Rudi of Stewartstown, PA; three brothers, Royce Morgan and Dr. David Morgan, both of Wilmington, NC and Frank Morgan of Crisfield; a sister, Anne Windsor of Hebron; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Bayne Morgan in 1966.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 2 PM at the Crisfield Church of God. The Rev. Harvey Tyler will officiate and will be assisted by Mr. Morgan's sons-in-law. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield Tuesday from 7-9 PM and at the church Wednesday from 1-2 PM.
