Rebecca E. Forbush, 95, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Blacksburg, VA on February 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Webber and Elizabeth McDorman Webber. Her husband, Augustus Forbush, Jr., preceded her in death on July 26, 1996.
A homemaker, she was a graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1946. She was a member of the former Mt. Pleasant Church and later attended the former Evangelical Wesleyan Church. In her earlier years she was a member of the Tawes Nursing Home Auxiliary Board.
She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a Bowling League in her younger years. She also loved going to the beach and staying at a campground in Fenwick Island with her friends. Most of all, she loved her family and especially adored her grandsons and great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathie Forbush Yow (the late Dr. Raymond Yow) of Sarasota, FL and Donna Jean Laird and husband Charles of Crisfield; four grandsons, Gregory Ross Cullen and wife Amanda and their daughter, Sadie Hope of Westover, MD, Chase Cullen and Howard (Billy) Ward, III, both of Crisfield, and C. Grayson Laird and wife Lauren of Snow Hill, MD; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Doubleday Forbush of Beaufort, SC; her devoted friend, Agnes Lewis of Crisfield; and her close caregivers, Cindy Somers of Marion and Hilda Swift of Crisfield.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Augustus Forbush, III on June 10, 2021; and her half brother, William Ollie Webber.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 1 PM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Her grandson, C. Grayson Laird, will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817.
The family would like to thank the staff of Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home and Dr. Vijay Karumbunathan for the exceptional care she received while a resident there.
