Obituary

Rebecca Jane Blizzard, 85, of Crisfield and formerly of Salisbury and Delaware, died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at McCready Memorial Hospital.

Born in Cambridge, and raised in the Hurlock/Preston area, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie Fuchs Nepert.

She worked for the State of Maryland in the Dept. of Tourism and Dept. of Health. Very active in her community, she was Activities Director of Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield for many years and was instrumental in acquiring the passenger van to take nursing home patients on outings.  Mrs. Blizzard was also the founder and past president of the Crisfield High School Band Boosters, was a Coastal Hospice volunteer in her later years, and was the originator of the former Jolly Dolly Doll Hospital in Dagsboro where people would come from all over to have their dolls repaired and reclothed.

She was a member and volunteer at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury and was formerly a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield where she was church secretary for many years and was active in the UMW.

She was a talented crafter who especially enjoyed sewing, quilting and scrapbooking. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed raising her children and doting on her grandchildren.

She is survived by six children and their spouses, Debbie Walls of Lewes, DE, Jayne and Maurice Somers of Crisfield, Penny and Tim O'Neill of Mechanicsville, VA, James and Natalie Blizzard of Crisfield, Mary Beth Thomas of Eden, and Charlie and Brooke Blizzard of Machapongo, VA; a brother, Edward "Sonny" Nepert of Hurlock; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, John Michael Walls, Mary Elizabeth and David Grant, Ritchie and Dana Somers, Andrea and Kris Brown, Lauren O'Neill, Haley O'Neill, Lexi O'Neill, Tori O'Neill, Jamie and Lenora Blizzard, Jason and Amber Blizzard, Ashley and Mike Ennis, Brandon Thomas, Courtney and Tyler Ford, Rebecca and Justin Smith, Lauren Dickhut, and Kevin Janz whom she got to know through the foreign exchange program and thought of as another grandson; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild on the way.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Nepert; and a great-grandson.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Dale Vroman will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury where a visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston.
