RACHEL KATHERINE McCREADY, 93, of Baltimore, and formerly of Pennsylvania and Crisfield, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Manor Care-Rossville in Baltimore.

Born in Crisfield on June 29, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ida Mae Ward Riggin. Her husband, Carroll James McCready, preceded her in death on September 4, 1985.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield. She loved to crochet, especially afghans for her grandchildren. She also loved pigs, Bingo, and a good time.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolee Freeze of Baltimore; two sons, Terry J. McCready and wife Alice of Baltimore and Carroll J. McCready, Jr. and wife Diane of New Freedom, Pennsylvania; 116 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Irma Anne Epps and Maxine Christopher; a son, Charles McCready; and a sister, Virginia Somers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call Friday evening from 7-9 PM and one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Alton Hinson will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park near Crisfield.
